Contract A31: Design, Supply and Installation of 33kv and 66kv Lines
IDA Credit No. 47430-KE (P103037), Kenya Electricity Expansion Project
1. Thisinvitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in the dgMarket on 02/04/2009.
2. The Government of the Republic of Kenya has received credit from the International Development Association towards the cost of the Kenya Electricity Expansion Project. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this credit will be applied to eligible payments under the contract. Bidding will be governed by the World Bank's Eligibility Rules and Procedures.
3. The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for:
i) KPL1/12A-2/PT /2/14/A31 Lot1- Design, Supply And Installation Of 66KV and 33KV lines from Ngong, Thika Rd, Tana and Kiboko substations (311kms).
ii) KPL1/12A-2/PT /2/14/A31 Lot2- Design, Supply And Installation Of 33KV lines from Galu, Jomvu, Garsen, and Kakuyuni and rabai substation (188 kms).
iii) KPL1/12A-2/PT /2/14/A31 Lot3- Design, SupplyAnd Installation Of 33KV lines from Kitale, Awendo, Mwingi, Konza and Kutus substations (158 kms).
4. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders at the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KES 5,000 or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. The method of payment will be Cash or Bankers Cheque, payable at the Chief Accountant's Office, KPLC, Stima Plaza, 1st Floor, and receipt obtained. Bidders may also view the bid documents from www.kplc.co.ke.
5. Bidders are advised to attend the pre-bid conference. The conference will be held on 28th April, 2014. Details of the meeting will be notified to all bidders purchasing Bidding Documents.
6. The delivery/construction period is estimated to be about 15 months.
7. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits.(Latest Edition, August 2010).
8. Bidders may obtain further information from The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 0900 to 1600 hours, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

9. Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 13th June, 2014 at 10.00 a.m. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of not less the amount indicated in the table below for each tender or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of thebidders' representatives who choose to attend at the address below on13th June, 2014 at 10.00 a.m (local time).
